ʻŌhiʻa Productions is a non-profit, § 501(c)(3) organization founded in March of 1995 by Lisa Matsumoto and Michael Furuya to provide creative, educational and inspiring theatrical experiences to Hawaiʻi's children and families.

Students will go on a voyage through the Pacific Islands in three legends meeting “Iawame” the forest god in the New Guinea tale “The Discontented Crow,” a foolish and lazy woman in a tale from Fiji called “The Woman Who Wanted to Cook with Salt Water” and finally travel to Hawai‘i to see Maui the demi-god in “How Maui Slowed the Sun.” These legends will sail students to days long ago through magnificent storytelling, music and memorable characters.
